Dodge EV

Modern sports cars seem to not only rely on the appearance and speed. There is one more thing to be a special condition, which is environmentally friendly. Yes, environmentally friendly sports car seems to have become a new trend. Dodge tried to capture this phenomenon by issuing Dodge EV Circuit.

Circuit EV electric concept. Vehicles are throwing away gasoline as a fuel. Instead, the car was equipped with a source of electrical energy, which of course would be free of pollution. The concept of green environment makes the car has zeros on exhaust emissions. Even so, Circuit EV capable of driving up to a distance of 200 miles.

Acceleration Circuit EV is claimed to be coupled with other sports cars. Vehicles that can touch the figure up to 60 km / h in 5 seconds. The maximum speed is also included extraordinary in its class.

Circuit EV capable of penetrating up to speeds of 120 miles / hour. The car is also able to reach the quarter mile in 13 seconds. Its power can not be doubted.

CONCEPT engine power train intentionally crammed three at once in the car. That makes EV Circuit capable of racing with the power of 268 hp. That has included about 200 kw of electricity produced when racing.

The electric car using lithium ion batteries. The pattern of filling easily impressed. Just plugged in the electric power 110 volts at home. Same with other household appliances. Plug well on 220 volt power source to shorten the charging time.

Orange color cast tangoreen clearly visible on the car body. The colors commonly used on other sports car to show the difference. On the right side of his left there is a paper that adds to the impression of sporty EV.

"Sangar" outside, soft on the inside. Car's interior is intentionally designed to create the impression Softly comfortable. Dashboard design is also minimalist. Car seats are designed in a smooth silhouette. It softens the interior of the car.

Sophistication remain number one. That is evidenced by the concept of a single finger touch. The car is already equipped with a computerized system reliably. The position of the car also clearly traced through the integrated GPS inside.

GM Holden

GM Holden is planning to launch around three versions of the Holden Commodore. The model codenamed 'SS Sedan' has received approval for production and sales in the United States. The three models are based on the Zeta platform, which is also available on the Chevrolet Camaro.

General Motors Holden, the Australian division of the world’s largest car company, General Motors, released details of its all-new Holden Commodore range, designed and engineered to extend a decade-long record as Australia’s best selling car today.

GM Holden develops its large cars to be world class and we are seeing that paying dividends with new export programs like the one announced today, Reuss said.

Cars we build here in Australia are being exported to every continent except Antarctica for brands including Holden, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Vauxhall and GM Daewoo.

And with the engine in the Veritas also being built by Holden, it’s fair to say we are exporting the complete package.

Exports are an increasingly important part of our business and Veritas again proves we have the capability to design, engineer and build vehicles for a wide range of consumers and markets.

Based on GM’s Global Rear Wheel Drive architecture, Veritas is powered by a 3.6 litre Alloytec V6 and is fitted with a five-speed automatic transmission with fully optimized gear ratio settings, Active Select and Sport Shift.

Holden Commodore VE

The new Holden Commodore VE Sportwagon puts the excitement back into practicality. This is a car for families with a `get-up-and-go` attitude.

"The generous interior space, combined with sleeker, sportier styling, makes this a wagon that people will want to own as a year-round family car, or for family and business use.

"Holden`s new VE Sportwagon turns practi-`cal` into practi-`cool`," said Gubbey.

The VE Commodore Sportwagon unveiled in Sydney today is a production-based concept vehicle. It is the first glimpse of the planned production model scheduled to hit Holden showrooms in the first half of 2008.

The vehicle draws on VE sedan at the front with a sleek and sporty silhouette at the back and is built on the same VE wheelbase. It is the third VE derivative after sedan and the newly released ute range.

Features

At the rear, Holden`s designers have cleverly created a wider opening by positioning the tailgate hinge well forward into the roof line. This has created a more vertical opening movement for the tailgate and reduces opening space required around the car.

The higher cargo floor makes loading easier and a flexible cargo cover provides extra security for items stored in the back.

VE Sportwagon seats five adults in comfort and a 60:40 split in the rear seating row can be folded flat for storing larger items.

The motor show display model includes a roof mounted DVD player, Bluetooth capability, multi-function driver information display system and zone-based front and rear park assist systems - all currently standard on the VE Calais V-Series sedan. Features on the vehicle unique to the motor show include 20-inch alloy wheels, chrome window trim and unique interior colour combination.

VE Commodore Sportwagon`s pricing, model line-up and powertrain combinations will be confirmed closer to the on-sale date, but expect to see a similar type of strategy to VE sedan, with entry level cars, sports models and luxury models ranging up to the luxurious VE Calais V-Series.

Succeeding the previous VZ model, the VE represents the fourteenth iteration of the Holden Commodore range—first introduced in 1978. As opposed to the VZ and all models previous, which used Opel-sourced platforms adapted both mechanically and in size for the local market, the VE programme is the first Commodore to be developed exclusively by Holden in Australia. The design of this new model included innovative features to help minimise export redevelopment costs, such as a symmetrical centre console that houses a flush-fitting hand brake lever to facilitate its conversion to left-hand drive. Internationally, the VE is badge engineered as the Chevrolet Lumina, Chevrolet Omega and also as the Pontiac G8 until 2009.

Holden implemented a staged roll-out of the VE variants, releasing the sedan first in July 2006. Prior to this, Holden stated they would manufacture two parallel generations of Commodores until the new station wagon and utility body styles were launched. The company also announced that engines and transmissions would be largely carried over from the previous VZ model. Variants by the brand's performance arm, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), were released soon after the sedan's debut alongside the long-wheelbase WM Statesman/Caprice models. The VE Ute did not enter production until 2007 when it was accompanied by the previewing of a Sportwagon concept. The Sportwagon itself was subsequently introduced in July 2008 with a standard Commodore wheelbase instead of the extended wheelbase of previous Commodore wagons

Fiat 500 Sport

Where picking a favorite Fiat 500 Sport of these two cars based on steering, handling, and ride quality almost comes down to a matter of taste, choosing the best powertrain is pretty straightforward. The Mini wins. Of course the Cooper has got more power and torque, but it also delivers such in a more urgent fashion, and with better spacing between the gears. The Mini offers a much better-feeling gas pedal than the fairly rubbery one of the Fiat, and offers better acceleration from a standstill and from mid-range speeds. What’s more, the gearlever in the Cooper was better to engage—with good weight and a shorter, more precise throw—than the merely average stick shift of the Cinquecento.

It’s not complete domination by the Mini Cooper, though; we like the clutch engagement of the 500 better than the heavier unit of its competitor, and the sound from engine and exhaust of the Fiat is a lot more sporting.

Stopping—every bit as critical as accelerating—is easier to do in the Fiat, too. The 500 again uses its weight to its advantage with sharper brakes that pulled us up harder than those of the Mini.

Of course, the three grand extra you pay for the Mini doesn’t come without tangible benefit either. The Cooper’s 1.6-liter four is slightly bigger than the Fiat’s 1.4-liter, makes more power (121 versus 101 horsepower), and makes more torque (114 versus 98 pound-feet). And even though the Mini is a few hundred pounds heavier, its greater power means it only needs move 20.95 pounds per horsepower offered, against 23.40 pounds per horsepower for the 500.

If that weight/power ratio seems pretty close to you (it is), consider also that the Mini Cooper has a six-speed manual transmission with which to work, while the Italians will only give us five speeds to row through.

More boring, but important, comparative data for the pair: the Cinquecento has got mildly better fuel economy figures at 30/38 mpg city/highway (29/37 for Mini), but the Cooper has got a better overall highway range (488 versus 399 miles) thanks to a gas tank that’s about three gallons more voluminous. The Mini has a smaller cargo area with the rear seats up (5.7 versus 9.5 cubic feet), but the Mini’s interior volume is larger overall. The “British” Mini is a pastiche of European parts and labor, with an engine from France, a transmission from Germany (and German corporate owners in BMW), and final assembly taking place in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile the “Italian” Fiat gets its engine and trans from its home country, while many parts are sourced in Mexico and the US—final assembly of North American 500s takes place in Mexico, too. No matter where they’re built, both companies stand behind their products in a similar fashion: both Fiat and Mini offer basic warranties of 4 years/50,000 miles, and roadside assistance programs for 4 years and unlimited miles.

Bentley Caontinentl

Bentley Caontinentl
Bentley has come out with a new range of accessories for the latest 2011 Continental GT grouped under its prestigious Mulliner branding. The Mulliner name comes from the original British coachbuilding firm H. J. Mulliner & Co but in more recent years has been used for Bentley’s own personalization program.

In the case of the Continental GT, the Mulliner package includes a unique front bumper splitter, strakes integrated into the front intake grilles, side extension blades and a rear diffuser, all made from carbon fiber.

These are complemented by a range of additional design options, comprising a carbon fiber rear spoiler and door mirror cowls as well as unique 21-inch wheels finished in glossy black. The final touch is a set of dark mesh front wing vents with carbon fiber bezels.

Unlike many after-market styling packages, Bentley has subjected the components of the Mulliner package to a typically rigorous and comprehensive quality and engineering test and development program.

Porsche Cayman

Porsche has been rather busy preparing their next round of new generation beauties, including the new Boxster and the future 911/991, but up until now, we haven’t seen any real information on the next generation Cayman. Revealed back in 2005, the Porsche Cayman will be entering its third generation in 2012, and recent spy shots reveal that the sports car is already undergoing extreme testing to prep it for its grand unveiling.

Although everyone is now focusing on the aforementioned new generation 911 rumored to debut this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, a lucky spy photographer had the chance to catch a Cayman prototype testing in southern Europe. This prototype is rumored to be built on a new lightweight, turbocharged four-cylinder platform that is being shared with the new Boxster. The exterior design will be much more fluid, will add a new level of sportiness, and will keep its hard-top configuration.

The Porsche Cayman combines sublime handling abilities, brakes that beg to be pushed hot into a corner and a choice of two engines that will enthusiastically sing as they slingshot you down the straightaway. Some of our editors who have driven the Cayman extensively report that its well-balanced chassis could actually handle considerably more power, and it's suspected that Porsche limited the Cayman's capabilities as not to overlap with its seminal 911.

If there's a complaint, it's that the Cayman is priced considerably more than its competitors, especially when a host of desirable options are selected. But when it comes to providing a combination of all-around performance, sublime driver interaction, day-to-day comfort and desirable prestige, we can't think of a better car in this segment than the Cayman.

Peugeot SR1

Peugeot has announced a new concept car called the SR1. It's a Grand Tourer that comes with two doors and a hard top. The design is a glimpse of what the French marque plans to do in terms of future design direction.

Typical of a GT, the SR1 features a large sculptured bonnet, flowing wings, a low centre of gravity, sweeping sides and a chiselled rear design. LED headlights are a highlight, as is the new redesigned Lion badge.

The interior layout pattern is a 2+1 type which places two passengers up front and one in the middle rear. Leather and wood accents are evident inside the cabin while so-called high tech materials like nickel and satin-finished chrome adorn various parts. A chic touch is an exclusive wristwatch that fits into a dedicated housing on the fascia panel.

Power is supplied by HYbrid4 technology consisting of a 1.6-litre THP petrol producing 160kW (218hp) and a rear electric motor of 70kW (95hp). Total system output is 230kW (313hp) and AWD is engaged when the two systems are working together. Average fuel consumption is 4.9 litres per 100km while C02 emissions are pegged at 119g/km.

Through the Peugeot SR1, the Marque reveals the stylistic design trends for its future models. The concept car embodies the new world of Peugeot, refl ected by the new Lion badge which adorns its body.

Dynamic, balanced, sensual, with an exclusive high-tech interior, this “dream car” explores and reinterprets the theme of the “Grand Touring Car”. The use of HYbrid4 technology allows the Peugeot SR1 to offer an engineering specifi cation in keeping with its styling: 230 kW (313 bhp) with emissions of only 119 g/km of CO2 (0 in electric mode), 4-wheel drive and steering... for an ideal blend of excitement and effi ciency.

The project is part of a broad-based move by PSA bosses to sharpen Peugeot’s brand image during 2010, its 200th year as an industrial entity.

It brings a welcome end to the 'wide mouth' era of recent Peugeot design, notably used on the best-selling 207 supermini, in favour of a much more elegant, technical look. Ploue also hints that the first production Peugeot with the new look will be the 207’s replacement, due next year.

The SR1 is a generously proportioned soft-top roadster, whose 4.4-metre length, 1.8-metre width and 2.6-metre wheelbase make it almost identical in size to the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. However, the SR1 features a single, central rear seat, and its power unit is a 240bhp, four-cylinder, downsized petrol turbo engine (Peugeot won’t reveal how small) mounted transversely in the nose to drive the front wheels through a twin-clutch paddle-shift transmission.

Audi Quattro

Audi Quattro

Audi completely redesigned the A6 for the 2012 model year with an emphasis on technology. And not simply the infotainment type, though with an 8-inch screen, advanced MMI and cellular Wi-Fi connecting you to things like Google maps, the new A6 certainly ticks that box. No, for the 2012 A6, Audi focused on building a lighter, more efficient sedan. That started by (thankfully) not increasing the size of the A6 -- which was already one of the largest vehicles in the class. So Audi increased the wheelbase and lowered the car and at the same time, employed greater use of aluminum to lighten the whole package by 176 pounds. That's a trend we can get behind.

And while Audi still isn't keen on offering a V8 for this A6, it has tweaked the supercharged 3.0-liter V6 to 310 horsepower @ 5,500-6,500 rpm and 325 lb-ft of torque from 2,900-4,500 rpm. If these stats sound familiar. it's because this is the same engine that's sitting in the 2012 Audi A7 which you should be familiar with as the sporty hatchback sibling of the Audi A6.

Opel Astra

The Opel Astra’s chassis has been developed as a mechatronic system that fully integrates mechanical functions and electronic controls. Like the Insignia, it can come with the clever Opel FlexRide electronic driving system, a rarity in this class, which offers the driver three settings – standard, Sport and Tour – while being fully and continuously adaptive to changes in driving style and cornering speed.

Other innovative technical features introduced to the compact class by the new Astra:
A new generation of bi-xenon Advanced Forward Lighting (AFL+) that changes its intensity and reach to suit prevailing drive and road conditions using nine different lighting functions.
The Opel Eye front camera system, which recognizes road signs and warns the driver when the car inadvertently departs from its lane.
Ergonomic front seats, developed for optimal back support and safety.

The powertrain line-up focuses on efficient performance and features eight Euro 5 compliant engines. All except the lowest powered units are equipped with six-speed transmissions. One new compact automatic gear box with Active Select function will debut.

Honda Accord

Honda’s engineers would have been left scratching their heads when management asked them to improve on the previous Honda Accord Euro. It’s pretty hard to improve on a car that is technically so good.

Well, I’m pleased to say that they’ve managed to do just that, they have improved the previous iteration of the Accord Euro, bringing a fresh interior and exterior design, along with a revised engine. The new Accord Euro is also longer, taller and wider than its predecessor.

Ride and handling is where the Accord Euro really stands out. The subtle ride is the perfect balance between comfort and sportiness, soaking up the majority of bumps experienced on low quality roads.

The steering is overly light and lacks feel. The lightness of the steering makes for easy parking but becomes a bit annoying during cornering because it’s hard to feel what the wheels are doing.

The exterior has been refreshed with sharper lines all over. An all-new headlight cluster and tail light cluster work with subtle changes to the bumper bars to further enhance the Accord Euro’s appeal. Boot space is quite generous with 457-litres on offer.

When the Accord first debuted in 1976, it rode a minimal 93.7-inch wheelbase and was 3 inches shorter than today's subcompact Fit. Under the hood sat a 68-horsepower CVCC four-cylnder engine - then the state of the art in reduced-emissions technology.

Dimensions have increased with each succeeding generation. So has power output. For 2008, the Accord sedan can have a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that generates 268 horsepower - 24 more than in the prior generation, which used a 3.0-liter V-6. Torque output has grown by 37 pound-feet, now rated at 248. Variable Cylinder Management technology lets the V-6 run on three, four, or all six cylinders.

Honda continues to offer four-cylinder engines, however, rated at up to 190 horsepower (up 24 for 2008). Three trim levels are available: LX four-cylinder, step-up EX four-cylinder, and EX V6. The LX gets a 177-horsepower version of the four-cylinder engine.

Design features for 2008 include a forward-thrusting nose that's described as "much thicker." Robinson promotes the car's "rounded 3-D cabin," adding that the Accord now ranks in the Large Car class for interior space.

Dual-chamber side-impact airbags are standard, along with curtain-type airbags and Vehicle Stability Assist. Seat adjustment is 10 millimeters greater in this generation, and the floor has been lowered by 15 millimeters. Lateral "couple distance" (the distance between shoulders of front occupants) is 40 millimeters wider.

Honda also continues to offer a coupe body style, though lately it's accounted for only 5 percent of Accord sales. Sedan sales began on September 12, followed eight days later by the coupe.

Honda's 190-horsepower four-cylinder engine, as tested in an EX sedan, produces more than adequate performance, with moderate engine blare on hard acceleration. Handling is nothing special, but an Accord imparts confidence with good steering feel. Harsh responses seldom occur, as the Accord delivers a well-controlled ride.

Response is unquestionably stronger with the V-6 and automatic. In that model, performance comes across as considerably more effortless. Front and rear passengers get ample space in each sedan, but tilt-ahead headrests could annoy some occupants.

In a V-6 coupe, the six-speed manual transmission shifts easily enough, but not quite precisely compared to some competitors. Neither is the clutch quite as easy to control as some, which makes the manual-shift coupe less appealing, mechanically. You get loads of power to accelerate, but pay for that performance with a snug cockpit and forget-it back seat.

Surprisingly, the 177-horsepower LX with automatic could be the most enjoyable of all the powertain combinations. Performance is clearly sufficient: milder-mannered, yes, but essentially satisfying. The LX interior is more basic, too. Yet, the 177-hp engine is quieter than a lot of four-cylinders, yielding only slight blare on acceleration. Oddly, it feels more easygoing than the 190-hp version, which seems like it's trying too hard.
